OSHA Investigates Accident at Lancaster Box Company

OSHA is currently investigating a recent workplace accident at Horn Packaging, a manufacturer of boxes and shipping supplies.

February 03, 2012 /Law Enforcement PR News/ -- The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is currently investigating a recent workplace accident at Horn Packaging, a manufacturer of boxes and shipping supplies. According to reports, 29-year-old Russell W. Walker, Jr. died on November 7, 2011 after getting caught in a corrugated box folding machine.

The Investigation

The Springfield OSHA office will conduct the investigation. According to statements by the U.S. Department of Labor, investigators will first determine which safety standards applied in this case and whether Horn Packaging followed those standards. Investigators will visit the plant, interview coworkers and gather as much relevant information as possible.

It remains to be seen whether Walker's death occurred because of an unsafe condition. If OSHA determines that violations occurred, Horn Packaging could face fines and citations.

OSHA Regulations Help Keep Workers Safe

- Comply with all OSHA regulations
- Keep detailed records of all work related injuries

In addition, employers may not retaliate against workers who report violations of OSHA regulations.
