Marriage While on U.S. Visa Waiver
Visitors to United States that marry a U.S. citizen while in U.S. may be eligible to receive a green card without having to return to their home country first with U.S. Visa Waiver Program (ESTA).
August 13, 2011 /Law Enforcement PR News/ -- If a visitor to the U.S. is a citizen of a country that is included in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program (ESTA) and they marry a U.S. citizen while in the U.S. on a Visa Waiver, they may be eligible to adjust their status (receive a "green card") without having to return to their home country. In order to determine if this is possible, they should contact a U.S. immigration attorney who is experienced in handling this type of adjustment of status. The location of the attorney is not important as long as he or she is experienced in obtaining green cards for foreigners in this situation. This process will eliminate the necessity of returning to their home country, filing for a visa and waiting many months to be able to reenter the U.S.
